Kanye West isn’t taking any more chances with his mental health. The “Famous” rapper was hospitalized for over a week in November after allegedly suffering from a breakdown. He’s since been released into the care of his own doctor and is on the road to recovery.

According to TMZ, West flew to New York City on Monday in search of a psychiatrist on the East Coast. Unnamed sources report the father of two was interviewing candidates during his trip. Once selected, the medical professional would be tasked with working with West’s West Coast team to create a comprehensive care plan. He is believed to have been joined on his quest by other members of the team who were put in charge of ensuring he’s taking his medication. TMZ’s sources suggest that the correct dosage and continued use of medication are key in ensuring West’s mental wellness.

West’s trip to New York isn’t his first outing since leaving the hospital on Nov. 30. The 21-time Grammy award winner was first spotted on Dec. 9 at the “Rick Owens: Furniture” exhibition at the MOCA Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, California. Italian Artist Giovanni Leonardo Bassan took a photo of West during the outing, sitting on a piece of Owens’ custom furniture. The rapper appeared in good spirits, sporting newly dyed blond hair.

Fans hoping to learn more about West’s hospitalization and subsequent aftercare may get the chance when “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” debuts a new season on E!. According to Entertainment Weekly, scenes related to the situation were filmed, though the network’s cameras reportedly never entered UCLA Medical Center where West was being held on a 5150 psychiatric hold. It is likely that “KUWTK” will approach the incident in a manner similar to the way they handled Lamar Odom’s hospitalization.

“He’s never been a fan of having the cameras around him,” sources told ET Online. “We’re told the show’s producers will be cautious about how they address Kanye’s hospitalization on the upcoming season.”

It’s not clear at this time what ultimately lead to West’s alleged breakdown. Some sources speculate that it was stress from the “Saint Pablo” tour and other work-related obligations. Others claim it was his wife Kim Kardashian’s Paris robbery.

On Dec. 3, Us Weekly reported that the Chicago rapper was haunted by the fact that he was absent when masked men stormed the Paris apartment he and the reality star share, stealing thousands of dollars of jewelry and leaving her with lasting emotional scars.
