Kate Middleton and Prince William will be spending their first Christmas with daughter Princess Charlotte at their Norfolk house with the Middletons instead of their Sandringham House — breaking the royal Christmas tradition, OK! magazine reported Friday.

"This is a little unusual, but the Duchess also spent Christmas with her family at the beginning of her first pregnancy, when she was suffering with hyperemesis gravidarum. Since the royals open gifts on Christmas Eve, they will only be missing lunch and games in the evening," Chloe Howard, editor of the Crown Chronicles website, told the magazine. "I think this is also indicative of the couple wanting to give their children as normal a childhood as possible -- for most people that means spending time with both sides of the family."

According to OK! magazine, the royal family's schedule remains tight during Christmas at the Sandringham Palace. Family members arrive at Sandringham in order of seniority. The members also change for lunch and again for dinner dressing up in formal outfits. Howard reportedly said that it was a German custom.

Howard also speculated on the gifts the royal family would exchange on the occasion. "What do you get for your family when they have everything? A joke present, it seems! Princess Anne reportedly bought her brother, Prince Charles, a white leather toilet seat a few years ago. He apparently loves so much, he takes it abroad! Harry, meanwhile, has previously gifted his grandmother a shower cap with 'Ain't life a b---h' on it!" he reportedly said.

Meanwhile, it was recently reported that William asked Middleton to stop flirting during ICAP's Charity Day on London’s trading floor earlier this month, where the two were competing against each other to raise money. William's response came when the Duchess of Cambridge was trying to seal a deal over phone. The couple also engaged in a game of table tennis at the event where the two were seen teasing each other.
