Harper’s Bazaar September issue showcases Katy Perry, Oprah Winfrey and Mariah Carey dolled up to impersonate glamorous beauties of yesteryear. The three divas worked with Carine Roitfeld and Jean-Paul Goude for the issue, E! Online reported.

Perry posed as Elizabeth Taylor, holding a shredded picture of Andy Warhol over her face with a bright plain pink backdrop. "An icon transcends time. Liz was so fabulous and decadent and had a style that evolved with the years ... and I'm sure I'll be married just as many times," the 30-year-old singer said.

Winfrey, 61, wore a pink puffy outfit, magic wand in hand, as Glinda the Good Witch from “The Wizard of Oz.” Said Winfrey, “I love when she says to Dorothy, ‘You've always had the power.' That is the message for all of us: You're born with it, you always have it. It doesn't matter how many yellow brick roads you go down, it's always right there in your heart.”

As for Carey, the 45-year-old singer became Queen of France Marie Antoinette. With a scenic background, the mother-of-two dolled up in a classic French outfit on a Fragonard swing, Today reported. "I'm pretty much the opposite of Marie Antoinette, but it's always fun to throw on a costume," Carey told the magazine.

The photo shoot was headed by famous photographer Goude and Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld, stated Us Weekly. In a previous interview, Goude described the ideas of the shoot’s origins. “I thought it would be interesting to show how an established character with a strong personality might have fantasies about his image, which has nothing to do with the idea the general public has of them,” Goude said. “For once, I didn’t feel that I was imposing anything on anybody."

Other celebrities featured in the magazine include Willow Smith as the Hindu goddess Kali and Dakota Johnson as the Greek goddess Aphrodite.

Harper’s Bazaar September issue will be on newsstands starting Aug. 18.
