It’s been two years since Kendrick Lamar released his critically-acclaimed album “To Pimp a Butterfly,” but it appears the “King Kunta” rapper is preparing to put out his fourth album.

As many rappers have begun to do when promoting a new project, Kendrick deleted all of the photos on his Instagram account, leaving up only one photo with the Roman numerals “IV.” While the rapper has a number of albums out, he has only put out three studio albums, leading fans to believe the “IV” is hinting at a new project.

And if you still have doubts about the wiping of photos leading to a new album, you only have to look back to 2016 when The Weeknd and Future deleted all of their posts and released new projects shortly after.

Following the release of “To Pimp a Butterfly” in 2015, the California rapper put out the compilation album, “Untitled Unmastered,” a collection of unreleased tracks in 2016. But earlier this month, Kendrick teased a new album, calling it “urgent.”

Speaking with the New York Times, the “Alright” rapper said he had a new focus with his upcoming release. “I think now, how wayward things have gone within the past few months, my focus is ultimately going back to the community and the other communities around the world where they’re doing the groundwork.”

According to Kendrick, while “To Pimp a Butterfly” addressed a problem, he is no longer in that space. “We’re in a time where we exclude one major component out of this whole thing called life: God. Nobody speaks on it because it’s almost in conflict with what’s going in the world when you talk about politics and government and the system.”

While he wouldn’t reveal a direction for the new album, he did say he wants people to learn to accept it rather than running away from it. “At one point in time, I may have a little girl who grows up and tells me about her engagements with a male figure — things that most men don’t want to hear. Learning to accept it and not run away… That’s how I want this album to feel.”
