Kim Kardashian and Kanye West may have had their heart set on the Palace of Versailles for their wedding, but it simply is not happening. It can only be expected that West would make sure his wedding to Kardashian is the extravaganza of the year, or maybe the century.
Last year reports claimed the 36-year-old music star was planning to have the ceremony at the former French royal palace outside Paris. Earlier this week, he and his fiancée visited the palace and Kardashian shared a photo on Instagram of the two on the grounds.
"Kanye has never been married and wants a big [wedding]," a source told Us Weekly last year. “They are not working with a budget."
Maybe West was trying to one-up Kardashian’s ex-husband Kris Humphries, after the two had a $10 million televised wedding in California.
But the Versailles spokesperson shut down the rumors, tweeting on Tuesday, "On 19th January @KimKardashian and @kanyewest visited the Palace of Versailles but they are not planning their wedding at the Palace."
As of late, West has been gushing about his fiancé. “I have never loved any girl, other than my mother, as much as I love my girlfriend,” he said in October, during an interview with San Francisco radio station KMEL. “I just feel so blessed.” The couple have been dating since 2012, though they have known each other for around a decade. They now have a 7-month-old daughter, North West.
West proposed to his girlfriend of 18 months on her 33rd birthday in October. The usually private rapper showed his love for the reality star in a huge way, renting out AT&T Park in San Francisco.
In front of her family and friends, West had a 50-piece orchestra play Lana Del Rey’s “Young and Beautiful,” before playing his own hit song “Knock Me Down.” After the performance, the words, “PLEEEASE MARRY MEEEE!!!! [sic]” appeared on the scoreboard screen, and after Kardashian said yes, there were fireworks, and her family came out of the dugouts to celebrate the amazing moment with her.
Kardashian was more than happy to say “yes,” later telling E! News, “"Last night was truly magical!!! I am the luckiest girl in the world! I get to marry my best friend!"
