Former “Dancing With the Stars” contestant Kim Zolciak had to pull out of the ABC competition after she suffered a mini-stroke last week. The medical emergency might have been caused by the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star’s decision to go under the knife, Radar Online wrote in an exclusive report Monday. Zolciak admitted to having breast enhancement and a tummy tuck, and it’s possible the procedures caused her mini-stroke, a doctor said.

Cosmetic enhancements “could have definitely caused her to stroke,” Dr. Sheila Nazarian said. “You can have a stroke during the surgery or right after because not moving could cause blood clots in the legs. You would also need a hole in between the chambers of the heart for this to happen, though,” the doctor, who has not treated Zolciak, said.

Having one surgery is enough to cause a stroke, but “the more surgeries, the higher likelihood,” Dr. Susan Evans told Radar Online.

Part of the reason plastic surgery patients may be more likely to experience strokes is that anesthesiologists take fewer precautions because those patients are generally in better health, the doctor explained.

“If the proper prevention for stroke didn’t take place and she doesn’t have an underlying condition such as taking birth control pills, all of those factors could make it more likely for her to stroke,” Evans, who has not treated the reality star, said.

Zolciak, 37, took to her Instagram page Friday to thank her fans for their support. Going in for one more procedure, things are looking up! don't let the oxygen scare you its just protocol,” she wrote to her 1.5 million followers. “I wanted THANK all of you for the love! I feel so overwhelmed with all the texts, comments etc. I'm so grateful to have all of you!”

She also made time to slam daytime talk show host Wendy Williams, who accused her of faking the mini-stroke so she could get off “DWTS.” She responded on IG Monday: “Absolutely appalling!! @wendywilliams how disgusting for you to insinuate I ‘faked’ my mini stroke on your show this morning!! You mad cause I didn't come on your show! This clearly shows your warped mentality!!”
