California darling Kristin Cavallari was taken into police custody outside Chicago on Friday morning after being stopped for speeding, the Chicago Tribune reported.

The 26-year-old reality-television star was initially ticketed for the violation. Once police officers realized she did not have an Illinois driver’s license, however, she was required to drive to the police headquarters in Evanston to post bail because of her having an out-of-state license.

Cavallari followed the motorcycle officer who pulled her over and posted $150 bond at the police station, said Cmdr. Jay Parrott of the Evanston Police Department. According to Evanston police, state law requires that a bond be posted if a driver doesn’t have a valid Illinois license.

Cavallari offered her own explanation of the ordeal on her Twitter account, explaining that she continues to own a home in California -- thus she technically is still a resident of that state.

Cavallari married Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler in June. The couple’s first child was born in August of last year.
