According to a report from MTV.com, Lady Gaga announced she will donate $1 million to charity.

Lady Gaga is teaming up with the Robin Hood Foundation to help homeless youth in her hometown of New York.

Mother Monster wants the help of her fans to choose the charity. Her fans can go to her Facebook page and pick from the following organizations: The Door, Hetrick-Martin Institute, Lawyers for Children, Safe Horizon or SCO Family of Services. The organization will be given the donation in two installments of $500,000 per year over two years.

The results will be announced at a special concert benefiting Robin Hood on May 9.

I'm thrilled to be working with the Robin Hood Foundation to distribute funds to help the youth of New York City, Lady Gaga said in a statement. NYC is my hometown and I think investing in these kids' future will go a long way.

A few days before the Robin Hood gala, Mother Monster's HBO special is scheduled to air. While it will be a concert special, it also goes deep into Lady Gaga's life and love for New York City. It was filmed during her time in New York for two tour stops at Madison Square Garden.

There was never a question in my mind that I was gonna make it and that this is my destiny and that we were all gonna make it as the kids of this city, as the New York generation, she says during the HBO special.

My faith in my creativity and my artistry has nothing to do with making it. We kind of had already made it when we were playing for nothing downtown ... We still felt like we were superstars.
