After a host of teasers and tweets, Lady Gaga’s new single, “Born this way was released on Friday morning and has reached the number one spot on iTunes in the US in less than three hours of hitting the stores. This is a record, that defeats Taylor Swift’s Mine topping the charts within five hours.

The song may just become the anthem for the “different”. The long anticipated single has already left her ‘monsters’ in a frenzy. Just check the blogs and tweets. In this case the frenzy may be justified.
Although for many it is reminiscent of Madonna’s “Express Yourself,” every generation needs its own slogan for being unique and Gaga’s single is just filling the slot.

Her saga to celebrating being different in a positive way is finding an echo everywhere. It doesn't matter if you love him or capital H-I-M, Gaga says at the beginning of the song. Just put your paws up, because you were born this way, baby. The lyrics were already out there, but it is the pulsating music which grips. It will be blasting off all kinds of speakers for a long time to come with its beat and fluidity.

A collaboration with Fernando Garibay who co-wrote Gaga's Dance in the Dark, as well as songs for Britney Spears, Will.i.am. Enrique Iglesias and DJ White Shadow, the song is a stellar preview for the album of the same name, due May 23.

Gaga will be performing Born this way at the Grammys tomorrow.
