Things are finally looking up for former NBA player Lamar Odom, who was hospitalized in Las Vegas, Nevada, Tuesday afternoon. Odom, 35, remains comatose at Sunrise Hospital, but new reports suggest he has shown some serious signs of improvement.

According to TMZ, Khloé Kardashian's estranged husband's heart appears to be healing. Sources said that doctors ran tests on Odom, Friday morning and found it was functioning "much better" than before. His family and friends were told that this is a step in the right direction as it was previously reported that four of his vital organs were failing. Physicians have requested that those present in his hospital room remain "calm" at all times to avoid stimulating him. As such, many of his visitors have been asked to leave his bedside. Khloé, 30, remains at her estranged husband's side.

The Kardashian family, along with Lamar's two children, have released statements regarding Odom's condition. The Kardashians have shared with fans via their websites that they will refrain from posting content on their individual apps during this time. The statement said they will continue to pray for Odom's recovery and thanked their fans for their support. The ex L.A. Lakers player's children, Destiny and Lamar Jr., released a statement of their own to Us Weekly in which they thanked the public for the "outpouring of prayers and support." They added that they were staying close to family and friends and asked for privacy and "continued prayers."

Prior to this good news it was said that Odom had shown little to no signs of recovering. Doctors gave him a 50/50 chance of recovery, but said that it wasn't looking good. Sources said they were confident that he had suffered from loss of brain function and was reportedly not breathing on his own.

Odom was hospitalized Tuesday after an employee at a legal brothel in Pahrump, Nevada, discovered him unconscious in his room. It was reported that he had blood and mucus coming from his nose and was it unclear whether or not he was breathing. Toxicology reports found traces of "every drug imaginable" in Odom's body. Stories claim, however, that it was the potentially deadly mixture of cocaine and herbal Viagra that caused him problems.
