“Arrow’s” Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) has an important role in the upcoming Season 2 premiere of “Legends of Tomorrow.”

According to the synopsis for Season 2, episode 1 of the “Arrow”— “The Flash” offshoot, Oliver will be helping new character Dr. Nate Heywood (Nick Zano) in his first mission to save the world. After finding out that the Legends are scattered throughout time, Nate — who is described as an unconventional and charming historian — seeks out the Green Arrow to assist him in finding a way to rescue Season 1’s beloved team of heroes and rogues.

The newly released episode summary also explains executive producer Marc Guggenheim’s revelation back at the San Diego Comic-Con that Nate is actually on the “Arrow” set when viewers see him for the first time.

Even though the synopsis didn’t detail how Nate and Oliver will locate the Legends, it did suggest that the duo’s mission will be a success, as the new generation of time masters will all be reunited within the episode.

“Once reunited, the Legends continue their new mission to protect the timeline from temporal aberrations — unusual changes to history that spawn potentially catastrophic consequences,” read a portion of the episode summary.

The Legends’ first task following the reunion is to protect Albert Einstein from being kidnapped in 1942 before the Nazis destroy New York City with a nuclear bomb. Meanwhile, Ray (Brandon Routh) becomes aware that Sara (Caity Lotz) has a mission of her own, which leads the pair to face her nemesis, Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough).

As revealed at Comic-Con, Damien is one of the four villains that make up the Legion of Doom. The three other baddies are the Reverse-Flash / Eobard Thawne (Matt Letscher), Captain Cold / Leonard Snart (Wentworth Miller) and Malcolm Merlyn / The Dark Archer (John Barrowman).

“I’m excited because Sara really wants to kill these people,” Lotz said (via TVLine) at Comic-Con when asked what she feels about Damien and Malcolm joining the show’s Season 3. “[Malcolm] killed me, and Damien Darhk [killed Sara’s sister Laurel Lance] ... I’m very excited to get my hands on him.”

“Legends of Tomorrow” Season 2 premieres Thursday, Oct. 13, at 8 p.m. on The CW.
