Lenovo may have already impressed a lot of people with the Yoga Tab 3 Plus, but the company was able to take it even further with a new tablet-laptop hybrid. The company unveiled the Yoga Book at IFA 2016, and it is a tablet PC that comes with a touch-sensitive keyboard.

The Yoga Book features a 10.1-inch full HD 1080 IPS touchscreen display. Underneath, it’s powered by an Intel Atom x5 processor, with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage which can be expanded via microSD. The device also comes with an 8,500 mAh battery which should be able to last for up to 15 hours, according to PCWorld.

What makes the Lenovo Yoga Book truly stand out from other tablets and laptops in the market is its Halo Keyboard, a huge touch-sensitive surface that can be used as a keyboard or digital drawing pad. The Halo Keyboard comes with a textured glass surface and haptic feedback to make the typing experience more comfortable and natural.

The Yoga Book also comes with the Real Pen, a stylus which will allow users to draw directly into the Halo Keyboard’s touch-sensitive surface much like drawing on something like a Wacom tablet. Users would also be able to place a sheet of paper on top of the touchpad surface to write and draw anything on it while the Yoga Book automatically digitizes it through the Note Saver app. The Real Pen can be charged by magnetically attaching it onto the Yoga Book, while users will also be able to change its ink cartridges.

The Halo Keyboard is attached to the Yoga Book through a watchband hinge which is made up of connected rods. This hinge design will also allow users to open up the device like any other laptop, or open it up all the way through to turn the keyboard surface into a stand.

“The Yoga Book introduces and keyboard and handwriting input capability in an elegantly simple, unconventionally slender tablet design. We believe our unique design will offer tablet, 2-in-1 and traditional notebook buyers a first-of-its-kind option for evolving usage trends,” VP and general manager of Lenovo Jeff Meredith said.

The Lenovo Yoga Book will ship in October and will sell for $499 for the Android Marshmallow version and $549 for the Windows 10 version. The Android version of the Yoga Book has been heavily modified to look and function more like a desktop OS, as pointed out by The Verge.
