Preview: Liverpool and Manchester City face off on Sunday in the first heavyweight clash of the new Premier League season. After an opening day 3-0 loss to West Brom, new Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers leads his new-look side into a clash with the champions desperate to record the team's first points of the season.

Despite being in action in the Europa League on Thursday night, Liverpool should show few ill effects, with Rodgers having made a host of changes to the starting lineup. The likes of Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez and Martin Skrtel have all been recalled to the side against City. The biggest surprise is the inclusion of young winger Raheem Sterling in the starting lineup.

For the visitors, they will be looking to make it two wins out of two to begin the defense of their first title in 44 years. Things did not go completely to plan for City on the opening weekend as Roberto Mancini's side were forced to come from 2-1 down before eventually prevailing 3-2 against newly promoted Southampton.

The match also saw an injury to star forward Sergio Aguero, who is expected to be out for a month. Mario and Balotelli has got the nod of Edin Dzeko to replace the Argentinian.
