After promoting her film, W.E., at the Venice Film Festival, Madonna confirmed she is back with her new album which she plans to launch in spring 2012.

During an interview with Sweden's Sveriges Television, the pop diva announced the release of her 12th studio album.

[I've] started a little bit of work in the studio, revealed the Material Girl during the interview in Venice, and she will pick the project back up once she is back from Venice and will continue working on that until the end of the year.

In July, Madonna's manager Guy Oseary tweeted It's official.. Madonna's 1st day in the recording studio for the new album... Very exciting... Happy 4th of July, when the plan of releasing her 12th studio album kicked off.

The 53-year-old-entertainer urged her fans to expect more good music from this upcoming album. The first single of the album will release in February or March 2012, with the release of full album in the spring.

Madonna's last studio album Hard Candy was released in 2008 which opened at number one on the Billboard top 200 and sold 3.8 million copies worldwide.

Her second directorial effort, W.E., is a romantic drama which earned mixed reviews from critics and fans. She received a standing ovation after screening the film on Thursday at the Venice Film Festival.
