Sports arena proposals may be a bit passé these days, but one man found an incredible way to propose to his Chicago Bulls' cheerleader-girlfriend.

The Bulls cheerleaders, known as the Luvabulls, congregated at the center of the court at the United Center, ostensibly to perform their usual routine. One member of the squad, identified by SB Nation as Bulls cheerleader Ariana, was made to sit on a chair while the Bulls’ mascot, Benny the Bull approached her.

But the man underneath the Benny the Bull costume wasn’t its usual occupant -- it was Ariana’s boyfriend, Shane. He stepped out of the inflatable costume (with some difficulty), dropped to one knee, and proposed to the Bulls' cheerleader.

“Moments ago, a Luabull, one of the [Bulls] dancers, was put in the chair, and out of that big ‘Benny the Bull’ crawled this guy with a little early holiday present,” NBA on TNT announcer Kevin Harlan said after the marriage proposal. Color commentator Reggie Miller couldn’t resist poking fun at Shane’s proposal. “I think he was a little nervous, though, because he put the ring on the wrong hand,” Miller said. Still, Ariana must have been impressed by her boyfriend’s gesture -- she said yes.

Ariana is in the midst of her first season as a Bulls' cheerleader, according to the team’s official website. She graduated summa cum laude from Saint Xavier University in Chicago, and hopes to someday host her own television show.
