A man in Florida was charged with attempted aggravated battery on a pregnant person and grand theft of a firearm after he allegedly tried to electrocute his estranged wife by rigging up the front door of her home with wires, according to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.

Police say Michael Scott Wilson, 32, tried to electrocute his estranged wife by connecting wires to the lock and the knob part of the front door of her father's home. Wilson was also charged with stealing a firearm from the home.

The officers were called to the scene at 110 White Hall Drive in Palm Coast Tuesday to conduct a check of the home. Upon arriving they found that the front door was barricaded and that it appeared to have burn marks near the handle, according to a Facebook post from the sheriff's office.

An officer then kicked the door in and there was a large spark observed due to the rigging on the other side of the door. The following investigation led officers to believe Wilson was responsible for the door and with a warrant for his arrest out he was found and arrested in Knoxville on Thursday.

Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly called the case one of the "most bizarre domestic violence cases" he's seen in his career, according to the post from the Sheriff's Department.

“Not only did this man plan to electrocute his wife, but he could have injured a deputy or any person attempting to enter this residence. Thankfully this man was found and taken into custody before he could cause the harm he intended,” Staly said.
