Manchester United got their season off to an auspicious start by coming from behind to beat local rival Manchester City, 3-2, in the Community Shield in front of 77,169 at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

The Red Devils' star winger Nani scored the final two goals of the match in the traditional opener to the English soccer season, and scored the game winner in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

Manchester United trailed 2-0 after City goals by Joleon Lescott in the 38th minute and Edin Dzeko in the 45th minute. United responded in the second half when defender Chris Smalling tapped in newcomer Ashley Young's free kick in the 52nd minute.

After that, it was Nani's heroics that propelled the Red Devils over the Citizens, with goals in the 58th and 90th minute.

United's attack proved to be more efficient with 21 shots, compared to City's eight shots. City earned five yellow cards, while United only had two.
