Claudio Marchisio has insisted that he wants to remain at Juventus, despite being repeatedly linked with a move to Manchester United. The midfielder has long been cited as a target for United and, with incoming manager David Moyes believed to have identified the midfield as an area of the squad in need of strengthening, the Italy international could well have been an option this summer.

But it would appear that Marchisio, who is also thought to be interesting Monaco, is staying put. "I want to stay at Juventus,” he told Tuttosport. "I would like to continue battling for and winning with the club in which I grew up in.”

And his club have also revealed that that they have no intention of selling the player. "Our goal is not to sell but to strengthen the team," general manager Giuseppe Marotta explained. "Marchisio has Juventus DNA and the player's will is influential."

Marchisio has been a key part of the Juventus team that has won back-to-back Serie A titles as well as being a fixture in Italy’s midfield. And the 27-year-old’s all-round game could potentially have been valuable to a United side that has lost Paul Scholes through retirement and has uncertainty over the futures of Darren Fletcher and Anderson.

There continues to be speculation about a potential return to Old Trafford for Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo. After an unhappy season with Madrid, the Portuguese forward has yet to sign an extension to his contract that has two years left to run leading to reports over a possible move back to the club he departed for a record £80 million fee in 2009.

The Daily Mail reports that Madrid are desperately pursuing Tottenham’s Gareth Bale as a replacement should Ronaldo indeed depart. Yet, just last week Madrid president Florentino Perez revealed that he was prepared to make Ronaldo the best paid player in the world in order to persuade him to sign a new contract. The 28-year-old may also be less inclined to rejoin United after the departure of his former mentor Sir Alex Ferguson.

One player that could well be on the move is Ronaldo’s fellow-Portuguese winger Nani. After a disappointing season and with just a year remaining on his contract, the 26-year-old looks set to leave Manchester United. Big-spending Monaco are the latest club to register an interest in the former Sporting Lisbon man and are ready to make a £20 million move, according to the Sunday People.

Nani was heavily linked with a departure last summer and made just 15 starts in all competitions over the past season. He has also been linked with a move back to Portugal with Porto. ‘

It does not appear that Moyes will be following up United’s interest in Colombian starlet Juan Fernando Quintero. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder was relegated from Serie A with Pescara this season, but has shown plenty of potential both with his club and with Colombia’s Under-20 side. He has already been capped at senior level by his country and his ability has seen him linked with the likes of United and Inter Milan. But Quintero looks set to stay in Italy, with Genoa close to sealing a deal, according to TalkSport.
