After taking three points from Galatasaray on Wednesday night, Manchester United also inquired about procuring two of their leading players, according to Goal.com.

United kicked off their Champions League campaign with a 1-0 victory over the Turkish champions at Old Trafford after a less than convincing performance. According to the website, Galatasaray vice-president Ali Durust has claimed that following the final whistle United asked about the availability of goalkeeper Fernando Muslera and defender Semih Kaya.

Muslera, Uruguay’s No. 1, saved a penalty from Nani in the second half of the Group H clash. However, United currently have David De Gea and Anders Lindegaard battling it out for the goalkeeping jersey at Old Trafford. Any move or a leading keeper like Muslera would represent a significant demonstration of a lack of faith in De Gea, in particular.

A move for a central defender may be on the cards, though, with United also recently linked to Torino’s Angelo Obgonna. Kaya, 21, is already a full Turkey international having established himself in Fatih Terim’s first team last season.

Durust, understandably explained that he hopes to hang onto both players.

“Semih came from our youth academy. He is a valuable member of our squad,” he said. "We didn't set an asking price for him. He is indispensable at that moment.

"Muslera has the same value too. Both of them are in our future plans. We never want to sell them."

Talking after the match, Muslera, 26, revealed his ambition to play in the Premier League.

"The Premier League is my childhood dream," he said.

"I would like to make this dream come true in the future. But right now I'm totally focused on Galatasaray's success."

Speculation in recent days has also focused on PSV Eindhoven midfielder Kevin Strootman. The 22-year-old was linked with a move to United after breaking into the Netherlands squad last season. TalkSport is now claiming, however, that Zenit St Petersburg are preparing a £12 million offer. According to Italian website Tutto Mercato Web, Strootman remains keen on a move to England.

Strootman is a defensive midfielder and could provide the tackling ability currently lacking in United’s midfield.
