Continuing his suspected policy of snatching anyone his Liverpool counterpart, Kenny Dalglish, shows an interest in, Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly plotting a £12m bid to sign Charlie Adam from Blackpool.

According to the Daily Star, Sir Alex has decided to confront Dalglish in the transfer market with a £12m deal for Adam, which overshadows the £10m deal considered by Liverpool. Another reason why the Scot could sign for United is the higher wages on offer at the Manchester club.

Adam is seen as the direct replacement for the retired Paul Scholes in midfield, especially since the 25-year-old impressed many during the season and in fact, scored at Old Trafford.

The report suggests that Ferguson has turned to Adam as he fears Chelsea have the upper hand in signing Internazionale midfielder Wesley Sneijder, especially as the London side can match the £200,000-per-week in wages demanded by the player.

So far, United have managed to snatch Blackburn's Phil Jones from under Liverpool's noses, while Aston Villa's Ashley Young was also considered by both clubs.
