Infamous “Pro Bowl Streaker” Katrina Torres had a good reason for running onto the field at Aloha Stadium.

During the fourth quarter of last Sunday’s Pro Bowl game in Honolulu, Hawaii, Torres decided to rush the field to celebrate a touchdown pass. Clad only in a bikini, the 23-year-old woman ran around the field and approached several NFL players before security arrived on the scene to collect her. But in an interview with KHON2 in Hawaii, Torres revealed that her role as a “Pro Bowl Streaker” was actually a tribute to her ailing cousin.

Torres’ stunt meant that her cousin Gary, who was paralyzed in a motorcycle accident two years ago and lost the ability to talk, would have a chance to see her on national television—if only for a few seconds. For the young woman—who wrote the phrase “I Did It 4 Gary” on her back before entering the field—those few seconds were well worth the possibility of getting arrested.

“He can’t talk, but he was just smiling a lot and he was just fist pumping,” Torres told KHON2 of her cousin’s reaction. “[Family members] said as soon as we saw you jump, his face just lit up and he was just fist pumping and stuff so that made it so worth it for me.”

Gary’s motorcycle accident left him paralyzed and without the ability to speak, but he had always wanted to attend the Pro Bowl at Aloha Stadium, the news outlet reports. He intended to attend the game this year, but his injuries prevented him from doing so.

Torres promised her cousin that she would run across the field during the Pro Bowl, and had no intention of breaking her word. “I just wanted to keep my promise, stay true to my word,” she said. “And I had told my mom, I told my auntie, my grandma. I was like, ‘I’m gonna do this. You guys might have to bail me out.’ And they were so for it.”

As it turns out, NFL Hall of Famer and Pro Bowl coach Deion Sanders may have played a role in keeping Torres out of jail. According to the “Pro Bowl Streaker,” Sanders caught wind of her tribute and told local police officers not to arrest her.

“Deion Sanders comes running behind saying ‘Don’t arrest her,’ that was really cool,” Torres told KHON2. “’If you arrest her, I’m gonna bail her right out.’”

Aloha Stadium officials banned her from attending events at the arena for a year.
