The Daily Show isn’t getting one new face -- it’s getting four. Comedy Central announced Wednesday that it is adding three new correspondents to what it called the “best f***ing news team,” which currently includes Jessica Williams, Kristen Schaal and Jordan Klepper.

“I'm so excited to welcome these new members of the Daily Show Team,” host Trevor Noah said in a statement. “Now I get to share my stress with other new people.”

During the 16 years Jon Stewart presided over “The Daily Show,” the role of correspondent proved to be a powerful springboard. People like Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell, John Oliver and Aasif Mandvi, who all had stints as correspondents, have gone on to award-winning roles in film, television and theater, and newer cast members like Jessica Williams and Kristen Schaal have seen their stars grow considerably brighter. Before Comedy Central formally named Trevor Noah as Jon Stewart’s successor, a campaign to put Williams in the anchor’s chair gathered considerable steam.

So who are the new entries? Desi Lydic, who currently has a role on the MTV show “Awkward,” has the most experience of the three, after paying her dues for the past decade. She’s appeared in everything from TV movies to big network dramas to branded digital shorts. She’s also appeared in a number of movies, including Cameron Crowe’s “We Bought a Zoo.”

Ronny Chieng, who was born in Malaysia, raised in New Hampshire and college-educated in Australia, is more grounded in stand-up comedy. He was named one of the hottest stand-ups to watch in Australia, and most of his TV credits are from shows that will be unfamiliar to most Americans, including “Legally Brown” and “Problems.” He's performed numerous hourlong stand-up shows in London, Edinburgh and Sydney.

Roy Wood, Jr., like Chieng, has more of a strictly comic background. In addition to an appearance on “Last Comic Standing,” he’s done stand-up on a number of late night shows, including “Conan,” “The Late Show with Dave Letterman,” “The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson” and “Chelsea Lately.”

“The Daily Show” and its new cast return to Comedy Central on Sept. 28.
