Megabus announced on Twitter Tuesday that it's offering 200,000 free tickets for rides between Jan. 4 and March 1, 2012.
Travelers hoping to score a deal score should enter the promotional code GOFREE at Megabus.com. The offer is based on availability, so those traveling mid-week or on thin routes should have no problem snagging a free trip.
Megabus, a subsidiary of Coach USA, launched in 2006 and is the first express bus service to offer prices as low as $1. The low-cost carrier offers city to city express routes from five major hubs, including New York and Washington D.C. Megabus offers both single and double-decker buses with free Wi-Fi to more than 70 cities in U.S. and Canada.
Megabus COO and president Dale Moser told Fox he hopes the free giveaway will encourage passengers to try the carrier for the first time.
This exciting giveaway makes it possible to invite a friend and go on a fun weekend trip, get out of town to visit family or just enjoy a major city you never thought about visiting before, he said. Megabus.com offers $1 and other affordable fares every day, but a chance at a free ticket means there's no reason to stay home.
