Rumors are circulating the Internet Wednesday morning that Meredith Vieira will be leaving NBC and the Today show.

According to TV Guide, Vieira is expected to leave the Today show later this year when her contract expires.

Her contract is up in September and Vieira is reportedly worried about continuing the morning news hours and is ready to move on.

According to TV Guide, Vieira's decision also takes into consideration her husband's health. Her husband is battling multiple sclerosis and cancer.

A TV Guide source is reporting that NBC hopes to be able to work something out with Vieira.

NBC is doing everything they can to convince her to stay, a source tells TV Guide.

The network released a statement saying, The Today show anchors are currently under contract and firmly in place.

If the 57-year-old news anchor did leave the Today show, TV Guide is reporting that Ann Curry would be the leading candidate for her job as co-anchor with Matt Lauer.
