America's first lady Michelle Obama made a surprise today by wearing eschewing expensive designer brands and opting instead for a H & M dress.
She appeared on the Today Show by wearing $34.95 dress from Sweedish clothing brand Hennes & Mauritz.
The first lady donned a navy polka dot knee-length day dress with a ruffled. The dress is part of H&M's current collection. She paired the dress with a thick red belt and yellow kitten heels. It appears she did not wear the red sash that accompanies the dress.
I take it as a compliment, Obama said when Today Show host Matt Laurer asked about her status of a style icon. It's not something I focus on... Everybody's got to get dressed in the morning and put on something. I hope people find it nice, but it's not something I focus on.
This is not a first time that the first lady's fashion has become an issue. She has been spotted wearing 10$ T-shirts in public.
