Comedian and talk show host Rosie O'Donnell is engaged to girlfriend Michelle Rounds, the couple proudly announced on Monday.

O'Donnell, 49, announced the engagement to Rounds, who works as a headhunter, to her The Rosie Show audience during a commercial break on Monday. She later tweeted out a picture of a beaming Rounds showing off her large engagement ring with the caption so so so happy.

The couple met earlier this year at a Starbucks and first made a public appearance as a duo in September. O'Donnell, who has her own show on Oprah Winfrey's OWN network, joked that she thought her 40 year-old fiancé was straight and 28 years-old.

My gaydar was way off! she joked to ABC's Nightline.

But the initial false read on Rounds might have actually been a good thing, according to O'Donnell.

I think if I had known that she was gay, I wouldn't have been brave enough to talk to her, she says.

She has four children with ex-wife Kelli Carpenter, who she married in 2007 but split with three years later. After the divorce she had dated off and on, including for a year with Tracy Kachtick-Anders, before settling on Rounds.

A spokesperson for the couple told People that they had not settled on a date, but US Weekly reported that the two will get married over Christmas.
