The Lakers have chosen former Cavaliers coach Mike Brown, replacing Phil Jackson.

Brown will get $18 million in his four year deal with a team option for a final year.

Brown had previously been mentioned as a possible candidate for the Pacers head coach vacancy.

Brown, 41, was head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers for five seasons until he was fired in 2010. He went 211-117 as the Cavs head coach.

Mike Brown was a great coach, said former Cavalier Lebron James said, according to NBA.com.

He gave us success that we hadn't had before in that city. And it started with his defensive concepts. He brought in a defensive mindset that we didn't have.

Brown was named Coach of the Year after the 2008-2009 season. He was the fourth youngest coach in NBA history to win 60 games.
