Blake Shelton does not want to compete with ex-wife Miranda Lambert over rival songs as he believes he won’t win, Radar Online reported Sunday. Lambert and Shelton have been trying to cope with issues surrounding their failed marriage amid cheating rumors.

According to a source, Shelton thinks highly about the “Over You” singer’s talent and believes that she is a better songwriter than him.

“Even after the split, Blake was the first one to declare that she’s not only a better lyricist than him, but she’s also a faster songwriter,” a source told Radar Online.

Shelton reportedly returned to the sets of “The Voice” earlier this month to deal with his failed marriage with Lambert. He also revealed in a Twitter post mid-August about going back to writing music since announcing his split with Lambert in July.

“He is less focused on recording new music than he is on delivering the goods on this season of 'The Voice,'” the source reportedly said. “Quite frankly he knows Miranda would win hands down when it comes to songwriting or record sales.

“He just flat-out says she’s lot better than him and will write a better break-up song than he could ever come up with,” the source went on, adding. “He’s not interested in going to war with Miranda, and he especially hates the idea of alienating her fans.”

Last week, Lambert posted a photo on her Instagram account of her late-night, writing-session snack, with the caption: "Food for thought! Late night writing session was a success! (I won't show the after pic!) Love yall," along with the hashtags, #newsongs #musicismedicine #platinum #Automatic.

The two country music stars have battled dozens of cheating rumors after news of their split surfaced. Lambert is accused of cheating with singer Chris Young, and Shelton is accused of cheating with singer Cady Groves.

Last week, Young responded to the rumors, saying that it was horrible to be accused of having an affair with Lambert.

"It's just so weird getting pulled into something like that where it just wasn't true,” Young, 30, told Entertainment Tonight last Wednesday, when asked about the infidelity allegations. "Man it sucks that I got put in this situation with two people who are my friends."
