Blake Shelton said Tuesday that he wanted supermodel Kate Upton to join “The Voice” as a fifth coach if there was a chance, according to Gossip Cop. Many fans speculated that his comments were reportedly aimed at making his ex-wife Miranda Lambert jealous.

“I would actually want Kate to sit right next to me,” Shelton reportedly said, insisting that, “musically, I would be interested in hearing her ideas. I feel like I could learn from her.” Shelton, who is single after his split from Lambert, also reportedly said that he likes Upton’s work.

Recently, Upton, who has been dating Justin Verlander since 2011, was seen enjoying an adventurous getaway in Toronto, with the baseball player. The 23-year-old model posted a photo of the two walking 1,168 feet above ground on the top of a needle-shaped tower.

Shelton’s comments about Upton come as he continues to focus on his work after returning to the show’s sets earlier this month to deal with his failed marriage with Lambert. The 39-year-old “Sangria” singer also revealed in a Twitter post mid-August about going back to writing music, since announcing his split with Lambert in July.

Meanwhile, the “Over You” singer has also gone back to making music to cope up with her personal life issues.

Some reports claimed that the two country singers may be working on songs to compete with each other. But a recent report revealed Shelton does not think of himself as Lambert's competitor as he believes she is a better songwriter.

“He is less focused on recording new music than he is on delivering the goods on this season of 'The Voice,'” a source told Radar Online. “Quite frankly he knows Miranda would win hands down when it comes to songwriting or record sales.

“He just flat-out says she’s lot better than him and will write a better break-up song than he could ever come up with,” the source added. “He’s not interested in going to war with Miranda, and he especially hates the idea of alienating her fans.”

Shelton and Lambert have battled dozens of cheating rumors after the news of their split surfaced. Lambert is accused of cheating with singer Chris Young, and Shelton is accused of cheating with singer Cady Groves.
