A California woman who threw her baby from a parking garage has been charged with attempted murder and felony child abuse, the Associated Press reported Wednesday.

Sonia Hermosillo, 31, threw her 7-month-old son, Noe Jr., from a parking garage at the Children's Hospital of Orange County Monday evening and then went inside the hospital to validate her parking ticket, prosecutors from the OC District Attorney's office said in a statement, the AP reported.

The baby is in critical condition at the UC Irvine Medical Center, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Hermosillo's husband, Noe Medina, spoke with the Orange County Register on Tuesday and said that his wife is suffering from postpartum depression.

Medina said his wife was hospitalized in June after saying she did not want their son anymore.

Noe Jr. was diagnosed with congenital muscular torticollis, which causes a person's neck to twist to one side. Because of this, he wears a special helmet and was attending therapy twice a week at the children's hospital, Medina told the OC Register.

She didn't look at our son as normal, Medina said of his wife. She didn't accept him. She didn't accept that he was like this.
