MTV’s Woodie awards are always about honoring the newcomers in music and Thursday night’s 2017 Woodies was no different. With performances from rising stars such as Starley and PVRIS to artists who are already becoming mainstream like Jidenna and Lil Yachty, the 2017 Woodies was full of great acts. Check out the six best performances from the show.

1. Desiigner – “Outlet”

What’s the only way to make a Desiigner performance more exciting? Bring out a live marching band. Performing his latest single “Outlet,” the always energetic Desiigner stole the show with his hyped up performance.

2. Jidenna – “Helicopters”

A veteran of the Woodies, Jidenna returned to Austin with new material and performed “Helicopters” from his newest album, “The Chief.” As usual, the “Bambi” singer always knows how to put on a good show.

3. Starley – “Call On Me”

You may not know Starley by name but you definitely know the Australian singer’s hit song, “Call On Me.” Joined on stage by her backup dancers, Starley’s performance really got exciting when the lights went out and the glow-in-the-dark paint started to shine.

4. D.R.A.M. And Lil Yachty Medley

Performing some of their biggest songs, including “1 Night” and “Broccoli,” D.R.A.M. and Lil Yachty showed off their excellent chemistry again.

5. D.R.A.M. – “Cha Cha”

D.R.A.M. had two of the best performances of the night, especially when he brought back his breakout hit, “Cha Cha.” But not only did he perform the song, he played the original version of the track with the “Super Mario” samples.

6. PVRIS – “My House”

If you didn’t know PVRIS (pronounced Paris) before last night’s Woodies, you’re definitely aware of them now thanks to lead singer Lyndsey Gunnulfsen’s powerful vocals.
