“Nashville” Season 3 will finally bring Rayna and Deacon together in episode 16—but not in the way Deacon wanted. Rayna (Connie Britton) discovered Deacon’s (Charles Esten) liver cancer in episode 15, and after a dramatic slap, Rayna fell into his arms. It seems like she’ll be back in Deacon’s life for good, according to the episode synopsis, but Deacon might find her helpfulness to be overbearing.

Rayna will at least try to give Deacon the kick he needs to stop feeling sorry for himself. However, it might backfire. “Rayna refuses to let Deacon wallow in his condition, but her support only frustrates him and pushes him away,” the synopsis for "I Can't Keep Away From You" teases. It looks like this will be another road block for Deacon and Rayna’s relationship. Fans will have to hope that Rayna doesn’t listen to her depressed ex.

Deacon’s niece Scarlett (Clare Bowen) might prove to be a distraction for the ill singer. Scarlett’s band with Gunnar (Sam Palladio) and Avery (Jonathan Jackson) are set to be Rascal Flatts’ opening act on tour, but Scarlett’s nerves could get the best of her. Scarlett will find her stage fright again when “her past public meltdown haunts her on social media,” according to the summary. In “Nashville” Season 2, Scarlett had a breakdown on stage and ended up in hysterics while hiding under the piano. She’s come a long way since then, but could the memory hold her back?

Meanwhile, Layla (Aubrey Peeples) will still be working on rebranding herself, but she’ll be distracted by Jeff (Oliver Hudson). It seems the two are still avoiding labels for their relationship which sends Layla “into a state of confusion.”

Her ex-husband Will (Chris Carmack) will be equally confused when his writing partner Kevin (Kyle Dean Massey) disappears. “Will is enjoying his new writing partner Kevin, but hits a bump in the road when Kevin is mysteriously no longer available,” the synopsis says. Is Will “enjoying” his writing partner a little too much? The closeted singer may be a little jealous that Kevin is making time for someone else.

Elsewhere, Sadie (Laura Benanti) can’t leave the domestic abuse drama behind. “Sadie finds herself in a dangerous situation with her relentless ex-husband,” the synopsis teases. It seems Pete (Jay Wilkison) didn’t like her public accusation of abuse on “Good Morning America,” and he might seek revenge.

“Nashville” Season 3, episode 16, titled "I Can't Keep Away From You," will air Wednesday, April 1, at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC. Do you think Rayna and Deacon will finally get back together or will his cancer drive them further apart? Sound off in the comments section below!
