Juliette’s jealousy clearly didn’t get any better while she was in rehab. In “Nashville” Season 4, episode 16, the star will see Layla and Avery together, and she won’t be happy about it. She’ll have to keep her cool, but that’ll prove difficult.

“Juliette is threatened by Avery’s connection to Layla,” the synopsis for the ABC drama reveals. Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) and Avery (Jonathan Jackson) seem to be doing better every week, but a jealous rage could set them back. Juliette rants about watching the two dance together in the trailer for the episode, titled “Didn’t Expect It To Go Down That Way.”

Avery is on stage with Layla (Aubrey Peeples) because the Highway 65 artist is one of Luke’s (Will Chase) opening acts, and Avery joined her band. However, Luke might need someone else to join the tour too. Riff (Steve Kazee) took off and left his family and job without a word in the last episode. The synopsis for episode 16 makes it sound like he won’t turn up right away. “Luke is forced to find a new artist when Riff disappears,” the summary says.

Could Juliette be the next best option? The mother did say she wanted to get back to work. Photos show her on stage with Luke, but she isn’t the only one performing in this installment. Thomas Rhett is also guest starring as himself. He’ll perform his single “Die a Happy Man.”

There might be even more tour shakeups on the way. Scarlett (Clare Bowen) and Gunnar (Sam Palladio) have been given a great opportunity as an opener for Autumn (Alicia Witt), but the veteran will cause trouble for The Exes. “Autumn drives a wedge between Gunnar and Scarlett,” the synopsis teases.

Elsewhere in this episode, Rayna (Connie Britton) might halt her plans for a tour when she learns what kind of trouble Maddie (Lennon Stella) has gotten into. After Deacon (Charles Esten) dragged her out of the bar she was playing in, Maddie will be furious. “Rayna and Deacon are distraught when Maddie runs away from home.” Will they be able to find the teenager?

“Nashville” Season 4, episode 16 airs Wednesday, April 20 at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
