Juliette’s homecoming might not be warm and fuzzy. The “Nashville” Season 4 premiere showed Juliette’s (Hayden Panettiere) downward spiral since abandoning her husband Avery (Jonathan Jackson) and her baby. The country star was binge drinking, denying any problems she had and alienating the few friends she had left. Although she was putting on a happy façade for the Hollywood cameras, that persona will start to falter in episode 2 of the ABC series, according to the synopsis.

The country-singer-turned-movie-star will continue her press tour for her Patsy Cline biopic. “Juliette breaks down during an appearance on ‘Live with Kelly and Michael,’ prompting Avery’s concern,” the synopsis teases. In the pictures for episode 2, titled “Till the Pain Outwears the Shame,” it looks like Avery will confront his wife for the first time in a month, but Juliette might not be ready to face her problems. When he goes to their house, Juliette is having a party with her new friends.

Her behavior “leaves Avery with a struggle of his own,” according to the summary. What will he struggle with? Seeing his wife's recent partying habits might force him to make sure that she isn’t around their daughter. Will he file for sole custody of Cadence? Or will he decide that it’s time to officially end their marriage? In the promo video, it looks like Juliette is begging her husband to stay.

Meanwhile, Rayna (Connie Britton) will be taking Juliette’s insults about her label to heart. Highway 65 Records needs a new big artist in order to be taken seriously. Rayna “devises a plan to sign Markus Keen (Riley Smith), one of the biggest rock artists around,” the synopsis says. She’ll sign the famous musician, but with a massive ego.

Markus won't be the only new character. This episode will also introduce Gabriella (Cynthia McWilliams), a new image consultant for Will (Chris Carmack). As previously reported, the straightforward businesswoman might not give the gay country singer good news.

“Nashville” Season 4, episode 2 airs Wednesday at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
