Today is National Puppy Day, and to celebrate the International Business Times has made a slide show featuring some of the cutest puppies (and dogs) -- some of them our very own!

National Puppy Day is relatively new, with it being founded in 2006 by Colleen Paige, a pet lifestyle expert, animal behaviorist and author. This isn't the first national day that Paige has made. Paige is also the founder of National Dog Day (August 26) and National Cat Day (October 29).

Besides taking the day to recognize how much you love your puppy, National Puppy Day is also a day to help abandoned puppied around the world. Paige also uses this day to help spread horror stories about puppy mills, and work towards puppy-free pet stores.
