NCIS CBS
Bishop's brothers and the team tried to unearth the identity of her new boyfriend in “NCIS” Season 14, episode 8. CBS

CBS’ long-running drama revealed the identity of NCIS Agent Ellie Bishop’s new boyfriend and it was certainly someone completely unexpected.

Although most fans (including us) suspected that either Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) or MI6 Officer Clayton Reeves (Duane Henry) or even Alex Quinn (Jennifer Esposito) captured Bishop’s (Emily Wickersham) heart, it turned out that her actual boyfriend was none other than Qasim Naasir (Rafi Silver). We first met the translator in a Season 12 episode titled “Lost In Translation.”

Despite conducting interrogations and investigations, Bishop’s brothers were unable to narrow down the list of suspects. In the end, they were just happy that it wasn’t Gibbs (Mark Harmon) in “NCIS” Season 14, episode 8.

In this episode, Bishop finally confessed to Gibbs that she broke rule number 12 – never date your co-workers. She even admitted to liking Qasim a lot. Instead of chiding her for dating a colleague, Gibbs simply told her, “Took you long enough.”

The episode ended with Bishop introducing her new boyfriend to her three brothers. They also welcomed him with open arms and decided to trust their sister’s choice in men.

While Bishop’s brothers and the team were busy solving the case of her mystery boyfriend, the case of the week dealt with a wrongly convicting terrorist who was sent to Guantanamo Bay. Bishop was able to let one wrongly convicted terrorist walk free, but she harbored feelings of guilt for incarcerating people at Guantanamo Bay during her time with the NSA.

Will we get to see more of the former probie with her new squeeze?

“Over the next few episodes ... Qasim is in them and a little bit more of their relationship is revealed,” Wickersham told TVGuide, “You know how it goes at ‘NCIS.’ It’s not like we’re gonna learn so much, but we will definitely get a little window into their relationship.”

Wickersham explained to the website that her character was doing well alone after her divorce. However, her relationship with Qasim just happened naturally. They were good friends so this new relationship unfolded over the course of time.

“NCIS” Season 14 airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
