An ABC News crew in Providence was attacked while on a recent field assignment in a local neighborhood.

It all started when ABC6 reporter Abbey Niezgoda attempted to obtain a comment from the mother of a teenage girl who was shot at a graduation party over the weekend. But instead of declining to comment, Rhode Island resident Melissa Lawrence hurled a rock at ABC6 cameraman Marc Jackson.

While the crew began to retreat from the scene, Lawrence came back outside with a baseball bat in hand. She then let out the final line of defense -- two full-grown pit bulls.

Footage of the incident shows Lawrence's dogs chasing down Niezgoda into a backyard a few houses down. Lawrence eventually called her dog back, but not before one of the beasts got a bite in.

According to ABC6, Niezgoda had to seek medical attention for the bite and soon after filed a police report. It was also established that the crew was never on the woman's property and were attacked right on the street. Police are in the process of putting together a warrant for Lawrence's arrest.
