Eight teams enter Week Three of the NFL season still searching for their first win of 2013. That is expected to change with three of those clubs favored in their upcoming matchups.

The Washington Redskins, Minnesota Vikings and Carolina Panthers have all been made favorites, despite starting the year at 0-2. The Vikings have the best chance of winning, according to the betting odds, as they are giving the Cleveland Browns five points. The Panthers will host the New York Giants, who also have yet to pick up a victory.

In the last 11 years, fewer than nine percent of teams that lost their first two games went on to make the playoffs. In 2007, the Giants won the Super Bowl after beginning the year 0-2.

Week Three is set to begin with two teams that have surprised many, thus far. The Philadelphia Eagles will host the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday Night Football. Both teams have seen their Super Bowl odds skyrocket from where they were in the preseason. On a neutral field, this contest would likely be considered an even matchup.

The upcoming slate of games has the two largest point spreads of the year. The Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos are considered to be the two best teams in the NFL, and they will play the two clubs that may be the worst in the league. Seattle, who may have the best home-field advantage in football, is giving 19.5 points to hapless Jacksonville Jaguars. The Raiders, who beat the Jaguars on Sunday, are more than a two-touchdown underdog as they visit Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos on Monday.

The third primetime game of the week features the Chicago Bears and Pittsburgh Steelers. Because of their slow start, the Steelers have been made an underdog at home. They are second to last in the league with 75 total rushing yards.

Pittsburgh’s Week Two loss came to the Cincinnati Bengals. The AFC North favorites will be involved in what is projected to be the closest contest of Week Three. At home, they are getting one point from the Green Bay Packers. The Bears and Packers are the only road favorites this weekend.
