Hip hop superstars Jay-Z and Eminem performed together to kick off their first concert at the new Yankee Stadium to an adrenalin-driven audience of 50,000.

The concert continued more than four hours with an array of guest stars. Eminem took the stage at 8:30 wearing a black hood and shorts and set the stage on fire with his Won't Back Down from his chart-topping Recovery.During his 90 minutes of performance, Eminem also did duets with Dr. Dre and 50 Cent. The rapper also let his fellow rappers take one for themselves (Dre on Nuthin but a 'G' Thang, 50 on In Da Club'). The show clincher of an act was Eminem's encore of his Oscar winner long Lose Yourself from his autobiographical 8 Mile, punctuated with fireworks.

Jay-Z followed up Eminem two hours later. He emerged from the floor of the stage amid smoke and fanfare from his live band and DJ wearing a leather jacket and sunglasses. He was soon joined by a red leather-clad Kanye West for Run This Town and Power. Nicki Minaj appeared for Monster.

Eminem returned for a duet on Renegade before Jay-Z finally took sole command of the stage to rip the hits 99 Problems, Jigga What, Jigga Who, Big Pimpin and Hard Knock Life. The night wasn't over yet. Chris Martin from Coldplay appeared to perform the piano-driven Heart of the City and Viva La Vida, which brought cheers and guffaws.

Shortly afterward, Jay-Z was joined by Drake (Light Up) and then his wife Beyonce on Young Forever. And just when it seemed as if things were coming to an end, New York anthem Empire State of Mind was called in, with Bridget Kelly taking the pregnant Alicia Keys' part. Jay continued on with several more numbers before finally wrapping up the show at 12:45 a.m. (Tuesday).
