Nintendo sold over 1 million copies of its latest Smash Bro. game in Japan just 11 days after its launch according to a Japanese game publisher, making the new title one of the fastest selling games on the Wii game system.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl, released on January 31 in Japan has garnered 1.08 million in sales publisher Enterbrain said.

Wii Fit and Wii Sports are two of the most popular game titles for the Wii, which went on sale in late 2006, took seven weeks, and eleven weeks respectively.

Nintendo's Wii console has been a smash hit since its debut. Though it has less graphics power than its rivals, its unique motion-sensing controller and popular game titles has made it the most desired game system in the market. Inventories are consistently sold out around the United States.

Wii sales topped Sony Corp's PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Corp's Xbox 360 in both the United States and Japan last year.

Nintendo plans to launch Super Smash Bros. Brawl in North America on March 9.
