People living near the North Carolina and New England coast should take precaution from Tropical Storm Danny which is expected to hit those areas Friday night into the weekend.

Tropical storm Danny which formed today in the east of the Bahamas, is forecast to turn toward the Outer Banks of North Carolina Friday night before strengthening into a hurricane and curving to the northeast over the weekend, AccuWeather.com reports today.

[The storm] is expected to strengthen into a hurricane by the early part of the weekend, AccuWeather.com noted on Wednesday.

It is forecasted to make a landfall as Category 1 hurricane over Long Island or southern New England late Saturday or Saturday night. Warnings for these locations include damaging winds, flooding rain, high surf and dangerous rip currents.
