An ambulance patient taken to the Kings County Hospital on Sunday night apparently left a bedbug inside the van forcing the hospital to fumigate part of the emergency room as a precaution against infestation.

Hospital spokeswoman Hope Mason reported on Monday that no major disruption occurred and operation was back to normal by afternoon. Mason added that there were no other bedbugs found.

Mason said there was no need to close the entire triage area as suggested by the Health and Hospitals Corp., which runs the city's public hospitals. She said only one bedbug was seen.

Days earlier, bedbugs forced three clothes shop to close for three days. The incident caused a hospital scare.
