Some users of the OnePlus 5 smartphone are reporting a strange issue with the phone’s display. OnePlus says that it is now aware of this “jelly scrolling” issue, and is already working on a fix.

The issue was first brought up by numerous users on the OnePlus 5 forums on XDA, Reddit and even the official OnePlus forums site. The issue is being labeled as "jelly scrolling" by users and it produces an undesirable effect on the device display when scrolling. When users scroll up and down, the content on the screen appears to be wobbling, like jelly, as explained by Android Authority.

However, not all OnePlus 5 users are affected by the jelly scrolling issue. Users on the forum sites claim that the issue has been happening even after the latest software update for the OnePlus 5 was released earlier this week.

The XDA Developers site has contacted OnePlus about the issue, and the company says that it is now aware of the issue and is now “looking into it.” However, the company didn’t provide any additional information as to the cause of the jelly scrolling issue on some OnePlus 5 units.

There are already several theories floating around the web that might explain why this is happening to some OnePlus 5 units. The most popular one right now is that some units may have their display mounted on the phone upside down.

One user on Reddit pointed out that the jelly scrolling issue on the OnePlus 5 is not visible when the phone is upside down. Other Redditors chimed in and said that the jelly scrolling effect would only happen on other phones when they use it upside down.

Since the jelly scrolling issue only occurs on the OnePlus 5 when it’s right-side up, it’s very possible that some units have their displays mounted on the device upside down. If this is truly the reason why this issue is happening, then it means that it can’t be fixed with a software update.

Before everyone panics, there’s still a large chance that this issue is simply a software bug. It should take OnePlus a few days or weeks to come up with a fix, and it could roll it out as part of its routine software update.

If this is indeed a software bug, then it wouldn’t be a huge problem. Yes, it looks annoying, ugly and may even make some people a bit dizzy, but at least it doesn’t affect the overall performance and functionality of the phone. However, if OnePlus takes a long time before it releases a fix, it’s very understandable for people to get frustrated about it.

For those who are simply unsatisfied or worried that this can’t be fixed through a patch, they can always return their OnePlus 5 units. OnePlus has a return policy that lets users return the OnePlus 5 within 15 days of purchasing the unit.
