Oprah Winfrey media mogul, talk show host and considered to be the most influential woman on U.S. Television is due to take a bow as the last episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show draws to an end.

The show was first aired in 1986 and 25 years later Oprah has become a household name in U.S. Through her candid discussions on sensitive issues, gift distribution and makeover sessions she had become a prophet of self-emancipation.

Winfrey's own journey is a rag to riches story. She was born to a poor, single mother in rural Kosciusko, Mississippi, where she grew up without a television and ultimately at age 19 became the first female African-American news anchor.

While the show would be coming to an end she will continue to focus on her cable channel OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network)
