“Orange is the New Black” star Danielle Brooks recently unveiled exciting details about the Netflix series’ upcoming fifth season.

While at the 2017 SAG Awards on Sunday night, Brooks confirmed that all the events in the 13 episodes of “Orange is the New Black” Season 5 will take place over three consecutive days. “You better get ready. Get your popcorn, your tissues. I don’t know when it’s coming out because they don’t ever tell us, but sometime in the summer,” she said.

Brooks added that the upcoming episodes will be very detailed and intense and urged fans to watch them carefully.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the creators of “Orange is the New Black” typically don’t reveal the time span for each season, so that viewers will not know how much time is left on the inmates’ sentences. But the shortened timespan may be aimed at addressing the controversial fallout from last season when Poussey (Samira Wiley) was killed off.

Following Poussey’s death, Brooks, who plays the role of Taystee, told the same publication that Season 5 will be all about war. After all, Taystee and Poussey have a very close relationship.

“It’s time to fight. I think – I don’t know, but I think that’s where we will see Taystee go. You see Taystee in the beginning as someone who is just full of light and love. Then she lost her mother, Vee, and had no explanation on how she died, while she’s also watching out for all of these women. Now she’s seen the death of her closest friend and has no justice for that,” she said.

“Orange is the New Black” Season 5 will premiere on Netflix sometime in June.
