‘Orange Is The New Black’
What will happen to Piper (Taylor Schilling) and the rest of the inmates after being removed from Litchfield prison in “Orange is the New Black”? Netflix

“Orange is the New Black” Season 5 ended with a major cliffhanger as some of the Litchfield prison inmates were transported to another facility.

Following this scene, one of the major storylines for Season 6 may have already been set. Questions such as what happens to the inmates of Litchfield prison and whether or not the facility will close down will likely be addressed. According to Entertainment Weekly, it is still unclear whether or not Litchfield prison will still be featured in Season 6 or if the entire Netflix series will be set on a different location.

Given that Litchfield will still be part of the series, it is also unclear whether or not Taystee’s (Danielle Brooks) attempts at changing the management will actually be implemented. In the finale for Season 5, it was revealed that the riot Taystee started ended in vain. But this does not mean no one in Litchfield was moved by her efforts.

While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, cast member Natasha Lyonne revealed that they are in the dark when it comes to Season 6. “We don’t know if all of our characters die. If some of us die. We don’t know if we will kill everybody that walks through that door,” she said.

Meanwhile, there are speculations that the inmates may be sent to Chicago. A similar storyline was written in Season 2 when Piper (Taylor Schilling) was sent to a different facility. However, Piper is no longer taking the lead in “Orange is the New Black,” so what could happen is that the primary inmates will be sent to Litchfield 2.0, as what Maria (Jessica Pimentel) called it.

Entertainment Weekly also speculated on the possibility of some of the characters in “Orange is the New Black” being written out of Season 6 temporarily.

In other news, there are rumors that some of the inmates will get longer sentences. For instance, Daya (Dascha Polanco) already got sent to maximum security. Angie (Julie Lake) and Leanne (Emma Myles) may be in danger since they regularly threatened the safety of the guards of Litchfield throughout Season 5.

“Orange is the New Black” Season 6 will premiere on Netflix sometime in June 2018.
