Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and baby Hope will have to face an evil relative and "The Curse of the Firstborn" when Season 2 of "The Originals" returns to The CW on Jan. 19. CW

“The Originals” will return for more drama on Jan. 19, when the hit CW series airs its Season 2 winter premiere, “Gonna Set Your Flag on Fire.” And we don’t know about you, but the title for episode 10 sounds a bit threatening, no? Well, threats are exactly what the mystical creatures of New Orleans can expect – specifically from Aunt Dalia.

Aunt Dalia is the older, more evil sister of Esther (Sonja Sohn) who made a murderous pact with her younger sibling way back when that would cost the life of the firstborn of every generation – e.g., baby Hope. See, Esther was desperate to have a family, but she couldn’t get pregnant. So she looked to her more powerful witch of a sister to concoct a fertility spell.

But as we previously mentioned, the spell required a sacrifice. This is why Esther is so gung-ho on seeing Hope dead. Not because she wants to witness the death of her granddaughter, but because Hope needs to die for the sake of the family – or else the Mikaelsons would feel the wrath of Dalia.

“Is there any chance of us running into your loony Aunt Dalia anytime soon?” Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) asked during the midseason finale. Well, we finally have an answer for you, Hayl – it’s yes!

In an interview with TV Guide, executive producer Michael Narducci revealed that the remaining episodes of Season 2 would shine a new light on the Curse of the First Born. “There is a huge storyline coming up that's going to address that very thing,” he teased, revealing that episode 9 featured many subtle hints of what’s to come.

“We’re going to start to learn what of it is truthful, what it means for the family, what it means for the baby," EP Julie Plec added. "And we’re going to learn whether Dalia is in fact a foe that they should be worried about or if she’s just legend.”

But little does Dalia know that baby Hope is a force to be reckoned with. According to Narducci, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Hayley’s daughter is quite the creature! “You’ll begin to see certain signs -- subtle at first, then maybe not-so-subtle -- in terms of how this baby is something completely unique,” he teased during an interview with TVLine.

Plec agreed with Narducci’s statement, adding that “little things will start to materialize that will make us realize there's something extraordinary about [Hope].” But we could have told you that! Not only is Hope a Mikaelson, which makes her part vampire, but she’s also a werewolf and a witch! Talk about a triple threat.

"The Originals" will return with episode 10, “Gonna Set Your Flag on Fire," on Monday, Jan. 19, at 8 p.m. EST.
