Claire and her two kids are going to a vacation in tonight’s installment of “The Orville.”

In a sneak peek from Season 1, episode 8 of the Fox series, Claire (Penny Johnson Jerald) and her sons Ty (Kai Wener) and Marcus (BJ Tanner) are boarding the shuttle that will bring them to their holiday destination when Kelly (Adrianne Palicki) informs her that John (J. Lee) won’t be able to accompany them on their vacation.

“It turns out that I need John to stay and supervise an overhaul of the navigational systems,” Kelly tells The Orville’s chief medical officer.

“Oh, that’s a bummer,” Claire replies. “I was counting on him to help me ride this with these two lunatics.”

But Kelly already got Claire a replacement for John, and it’s none other than Isaac (Mark Jackson).

“I look forward to joining you and your offsprings on this recreational outing,” Isaac tells Claire. “It will give me an opportunity to observe human familial dynamics of close range.”

Despite Isaac’s enthusiasm about the trip, Claire is seemingly not thrilled to have the artificial life form as her travel companion.

That, however, will probably change after their shuttle gets thrown into unchartered space and ends up crash-landing on a moon that is light years from the Orville.

In the trailer for the episode, Ed (Seth MacFarlane) orders to set a course for Dr. Finn’s last known coordinates. But when they arrive at the coordinates and try to contact Claire, the crew doesn’t get any response.

Meanwhile, on the moon, a group of unknown species pose a threat to Claire and her kids. Isaac tries to protect the Finns but admits that he cannot propel the threat alone.

“Episode 8 is particularly Isaac-heavy,” Jackson told ComicBook.com last September. “We do start to learn a lot more about him, and, it's often quite surprising.”

Aside from Wener and Taner, other guest stars appearing in the episode are Larry Joe Campbell as Steve Newton, Norm Macdonald as Yaphit, and Brian Thompson as Drogen.

“The Orville” Season 1, episode 8, titled “Into the Fold,” airs tonight at 9 p.m. EDT on Fox.
