A “cutie” dog has “snagged” the role of Bouton in “Outlander” Season 2. The dog will join the main cast members as the story continues in France. Meanwhile, cast member Tobias Menzies, who plays the dual role of Frank and Jack Randall, recalled what it was like to film Season 1.

The producers shared this photo of the dog on the official Twitter page of the Starz television series. Commenting on the post, many fans wrote that the dog was adorable and some fans even compared its “cuteness” to that of series star Sam Heughan, who plays Jamie Fraser.

The TV series is just beginning to air in Europe and some fans in Germany are getting to enjoy the show. Speaking to MyFanBase, Menzies acknowledged the excitement for the show in Germany and talked about what it was like to film some scenes in Season 1.

The actor said that the best quality of the show has been its “production values.” He explained that the costumes are “second to none” and complimented his fellow cast members, with whom he enjoys a “great rapport.” The actor also praised executive producer Ron Moore for being a “great [and] very confident storyteller.”

Talking about the auditioning for the role, Menzies said he was attracted to “Outlander” by the chance to play two different characters that were so “well written” and “interesting and complicated.” Also attracting him was Moore, whose TV series “Battlestar Galactica” the actor admires.

Menzies described “Outlander” as a “twisted love story” and his character Jack Randall as a “really great villain” who provides “very dark underpinnings” that the TV series needs. Toward the end of Season 1, viewers saw some graphic scenes involving Jack and Jamie. Menzies described the scenes as “psychological rather than just purely sadistic.”
