Last month, “Overwatch” players were treated with an icy seasonal brawl, called Me’s Snowball Offensive. This January, Blizzard is launching a new seasonal event in line with the Chinese New Year.

According to Polygon, the upcoming seasonal event will commence a couple of days ahead of the Chinese New Year. Appropriately entitled Year of the Rooster, the in-game event is expected to introduce new character skins to players.

If the teasers for the event are to be believed, it is likely for climatologist Mei to don a Chinese national costume. For last December’s event, Mei also got a skin to go with the seasonal brawl. However, many players complained at the time that Mei’s skin was simply a recolored version of the character’s usual costume.

Aside from Mei, hero D.Va is also sporting a different look in a teaser leaked via the Korean Twitter account of “Overwatch.” Based on the leak, it seems the character’s body will be repainted into different colors and some design elements will be adorning the mech throughout the Year of the Rooster event.

Blizzard has already confirmed that the new seasonal event will be quite similar in scope to previous events. Thus, players should expect to see new voice lines, sprays, cosmetic items and emotes aside from character skins. The event will also come with new gameplay modes designed to make “Overwatch” even more enjoyable.

Year of the Rooster will commence on Jan. 24, which is Tuesday of next week. There is no mention on the number of days this in-game event will last. However, it won’t be surprising if it is wrapping up on Jan. 28, the day of the Chinese New Year.

Because the January event is already confirmed, “Overwatch” developers are reportedly working on the next seasonal event, which is rumored to launch on Valentine’s Day, as per GameSpot.
